Ron Smith
(b.1930 - d. June 26, 1995)

Ronald W. Smith was an Emmy-award-winning hairstylist and former road manager for Duke Ellington. For 25 years, Smith was a stylist for stars from the film, television and music industries.

Ron shared an Emmy for his work on the TV miniseries "The Mystic Warrior" and was nominated four times for the award. He was key stylist for Avery Brooks, who played Benjamin Sisko in "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine". In 1974, Smith was one of the first African-Americans voted into the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Makeup Artists and Hair Stylists Local 706, in North Hollywood. He served from 1977 to 1983 on the local's Board of Trustees and from 1985 to 12991 as an executive board member.

Ron Smith also was a member of the Screen Actors Guild and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. After his death in 1995, the season-four premiere "The Way of the Warrior" of "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" was dedicated to his memory.
